Getting braces off July 10th, but......

Hi!

I am 23 and I have had Damon braces for 17 months and my last appointment was yesterady. My ortho informed me that I was ready to get my braces off and I am scheduled to have them off July 10th, but I am not sure they should come off yet because my lower teeth are not perfectly straight. I will post pictures and let me know what you think.

I also do not know if I am satisfied with my upper teeth. My two upper left teeth had to be reshaped because when my teeth were crooked they started to wear in a weird way. I think she did the best she could to reshape them but is there anything else I can do to have them fixed and shaped like the right two teeth?

Lastly, I asked to have my canine teeth reshaped because I think they look like fangs but she said they are supposed to be shaped like that. I understand they are not supposed to be flat but would it hurt to have them reshaped a little bit?

I'm probably not a lot of help, not being qualified to answer, but I guess I can see what you mean. I think maybe if you had a little more IPL done between the front 2 they may appear a bit straighter set than they do currently but I don't know if that's possible. You don't want to go making your teeth too slender.

I think your eye teeth look fine but if they really upset you maybe push a little harder about getting them shaped a bit.

I think the bottom teeth are straight, just different heights. I have the same thing with my 2 front bottom teeth. One sits up a few mm's higher than the other does. I guess you could maybe ask about getting the taller of the 2 shaved a little at the top to make them more even?

I think these are only minor though. Your teeth look great to me I also think in some circumstances (I'm going to be one of them) that you can improve things but not neccessarily get a "perfect" smile.

I would definitely have a discussion with my ortho. IMO you canines do look rather long and sharp. Some people like them like that, some don't. Also I would have thought that earlier in the process they would have leveled your bottom teeth. Seems to me that's a better solution than grinding them down.

I always bring up my concerns at my appointments and my ortho always addresses them. If I have a concern that I feel cannot wait, a shoot off an email that's usually answered very quickly, even on weekends.

At my last appointment I was told: "You're getting very close to removal time. Look things over very carefully before your next appointment so we can address any particular concerns you may have."

Orthodontists get most of their business through referrals and word of mouth. To stay profitable they must make their patients happy. I know it's hard for many to ask the questions, but the questions need to be asked. Your ortho will work with you.

Do you think bonding would fix my two front teeth that are mishaped?

I am happy for the most part. My general dentist is going to do some bonding on the two right teeth to match the other side at my next appointment.
