My first meal after braces was chocolate pudding, that was my meal basically for the first week after braces along with yogurt.
This was more because I was scared of it hurting, so I don't even know if it would have hurt.
Braced on August 17th, 2012 with bite turbos to fix a deep bite.
Exposure surgery on January 3rd, 2013 to expose canine.
Elastic attached to canine on January 10th, 2013. Estimated: 18 - 24 months in braces.
I ate scrambled eggs, bacon, and grits right after my appointment. I figured I'd better eat something good before the pain set in! Surprisingly, there hasn't been much pain so I've been able to eat ok as long as I use my back teeth.
It was very late at night when I got hungry and decided to have my dinner. There was nothing available except KFC.
Worst. They don't have mashed potato.
I used my unbracketed second molars to chew on the meat. Pity me.
Really soft and small pasta (used for infants) to start off because my mouth was already sore. Wasn't painful at all... just a pain to clean teeth and braces afterwards!
Well, I've had my ceramic braces on for almost a week, and I've lost 5lbs and have subsisted on smoothies and homemade soups.
My hubby made spaghetti last night but the noodles were hard to chew (feels like my molars upper/lower do not meet). So they are swallowed "whole" I pray this eating situation gets better
I got home from the orthodontist around lunch time with my upper teeth all wired up. I looked in my kitchen with wide-eyed panic. What the he!! am I going to eat for lunch? I know of all the DO NOT EAT foods. I settled on a cup of Greek yougurt.
Now I'm looking for good recipes for nutrient dense, non-soy, non-dairy smoothies.
My first meal was a slice of mild cheddar cheese that I tried to have for lunch. It hurt to even move my mouth so I just rolled it around in my mouth with my tongue until it broke into small enough pieces to swallow whole.
I tried to eat soggy cereal for dinner. That didn't work either, so I settled on chicken broth and a cup of greek yogurt. I was braced yesterday at 9 am, and yogurt has been the only thing that I can eat and will settle the hunger.
I had shrimp scampi and pasta for lunch and fish and chips for dinner. I bet have applesauce and smoothies tomorrow... By dinner time my teeth are starting to feel a bit sore when I bite down on the 2 molars that still touch!
I had a curry. I was too worried I might break my bonded retainer eating anything that required lots of chewing or biting into. It's been a few days and I'm still eating really soft things. Until I get my removable retainers I'm going to keep eating softer stuff. With all the brushing after eating I can see my clear retainers helping me lose some weight that I have gained recently.
