Good job on the weight loss! You are going to have a new you in no time. I am constantly dieting so I try to eat fruits for snacks. Grapes and watermelon have been great. I dont know what I will do when its winter and there isnt fresh fruit.

Re: New to the board
Thanks! I have 26 pounds left to be at my goal.
I never dreamed there would be a day where I ate a banana with a fork and knife, but it has happened! HA!
I have been eating grapes also, they are a good snack! I miss my nuts tho! I relied on those as my snacks pre-braces.

Re: New to the board
Day 21 - I have my first mouth sore. On my gums right in front of the brackets on my front teeth. I think this might be a TERRIBLE place to have my first mouth sore. I am not even sure why all the sudden it popped up, I have felt pretty raw in a few spots, but not anything terrible, I have not even used wax once since I had the braces put on. Oh well...hoping this passes soon. I have 15 days until my first adjustment.

Re: New to the board
Day 27 - I haven't really noticed any changes. My mouth isn't very sore, but I still can't bite anything, and eating hard items is out of the picture I think for the remainder of treatment.
My mouth sore only lasted about 3 days, better now. My lips are staying so chapped! I must be sleeping with my mouth open or something.
Does anyone else feel like they are clenching their teeth at night? I am pretty sure I am, I wake up with my jaws aching from clenching. I did not do this prior to braces.

Re: New to the board
New issue: I know this is my own fault, but I find that when I'm at work, and I eat, I tend to just smoosh the food up to the roof of my mouth with my tongue, to avoid chewing. As a result, I have a raw spot on the roof of my mouth today and can't do much of any eating! Ugh. I think I do this to avoid having to brush my teeth at work 20 times a day. But, I might have to start chewing more and smooshing less!

Hey, well good luck at your adjustment soon!
About the grinding/clenching at night...it's the opposite for myself, I've completely stopped all that and wake up with no jaw pain as opposed to having jaw pain EVERY morning for the past how many years. I think it's sub-conscious peace of mind knowing the braces with do their job and fix my bite. Plus, these bite build ups are in the way so it puts alot of pressure on 4 teeth if I were to clench!

Thanks maple! I can't believe my first adjustment is in 6 days! I am already preparing myself for the liquid diet again! LOL!
I think I'm going to go with all pink ligs, for breast cancer awareness month in October.

I love your choice of lig colours! They look great and I vote for all pink ligs too! I think you'll enjoy:-)
Best of luck with your treatment!

Hahaha I think the liquid diet is a great thing actually. It's so much easier to eat! OH yeah this past week has been terrible for indigestion (still really can't chew food properly because of the build-ups but want to eat real food soooo bad!).
Very thoughtful of you for wearing the pink ligs. No ligs for me just damons self-ligating brackets over here, will probably have power chains though sometime during treatment as it seems to be a common practice.
Can't wait for my first adjustment too, they'll be adding coil springs up front and putting in new thicker archwires.
Any word on what your adjustment will consist of?

Maple - The only thing I know is a larger wire and new ligs. I don't think my top teeth have moved enough for them to add my bottom brackets. Probably my next adjustment.
Gilly- thanks! I chose the purple and turquoise for my daughter. She wanted me to have both of our favorite colors!

Re: New to the board
Well, I had my first negative braces experience this morning. I had to walk my daughter in to her school and one of her classmates noticed my braces and yelled out, "ahhhh, I've never seen a big girl with braces, that is so scary! Everyone cover your eyes don't look!"
Ugh. Took a hit to the ol' self-esteem!
