lower teeth tipping in..
Why would they be doing this or am I just noticing it more because the uppers have straightened? How does the ortho fix this? because at the moment the outer side of my lower molars are hitting the middle of my uppers

Maybe you have a crossbite which your ortho is trying to fix now?

nah.. I'm having surgery to correct that so my teeth need to be their straightest regardless of where that might mean they sit..

Re: lower teeth tipping in..
the consultant did say something to my student at one time about hooks on the INSIDE of my braces so they can put elastics on the inside as well... ???

Yes they can! This are crossbite elastics (I had them). They go from the inside of your upper teeth to the outside of your lower teeth.

My teeth are also like this. They've been like this from before braces. My ortho hasn't mentioned crossbite elastics but I'm sure I'll need them eventually. She didn't seem like it was a big deal to correct this problem. I hope not! When are you having your surgery?

Re: lower teeth tipping in..
I have the very same problem! I told the ortho that at night, I keep waking up due to the outer part of the molar hitting off the inner part of the tooth above, I always think I have actually snapped a piece of the upper tooth off it sounds that bad. My molars there were fine before we started treatment, strangely the right molars were in the same position as he has now moved the left ones to, yet the right ones are now aligned but messed up the left molars. The molar you have shown there, on my teeth it has turned slightly, sort of diagonally, moved kind of back into my mouth and has gone down a lot into the gum, the side part of it only barely sits above the gum. I told him I was worried it was tilted inward, sinking down and turned diagonally, he said "oh... well, they are difficult to move", (I thought, oh well...you moved it out of place easily enough!)
He has now mentioned elastics, he didn't say where or what they were being used for. My upper teeth are near enough done, just canines still a bit rotated, the only major issue I have is that molar, there is no bite there at all, just molar outer edges hitting top teeth inner edges. What do they do for that, how will he bring it more out of the gum and outwards towards my lips? hope that question makes sense. Would it end up moving my top teeth too if he uses elastics from top to bottom?

Re: lower teeth tipping in..
hmm, seems my lower molars are also tipping inwards. what's up with that? I'm kinda worried but now my ortho is closed til after New Year's so I can't ask him anything.

Re: lower teeth tipping in..
My lowers are also tipped inwards. My ortho said it is normal that molars are tipped inwards a bit.
In my case, my lowers are tipped in, to compensate for my narrow upper arch/ to correct my crossbite.

Hi Ana
How much can the lowers be tipped when the arch us narrow?

Re: lower teeth tipping in..
The thing is, mine have actually moved inwards, they're not just tipping in. I'm worried now. Hope my dentist is in tomorrow.
Re: lower teeth tipping in..
Definitely ask your ortho, Lorianne. But I think you are fine..... Do you have a crossbite that your ortho is trying to correct?
Re: lower teeth tipping in..
Hi Anna, no, I have overbite tho. Thx for the reassurance! Will definitely be talking to Ortho.
