So close to surgery and may need to switch Docs, Best Docs??

#1 Post by lexchomp »

Hello hello,

Well my process has been 3 or 4 years in the making and I was all set up with Gunson who I've always wanted, I've been in orthodontics for 3 months and have around 3-4 months left til surgery. I was so excited to make Gunson work but now my insurance has messed everything up...

orthognathic IS a benefit for my insurance and Gunson's specific hospital IS in network buttttt my insurance has a no pre-authprization policy so without the insurance preauthorizing my hospital stay the hospital has denied my insurance and now I have to self pay the hospital visit so that ups my bill quite a lot..... And my insurance's reasonable and customary fees for orthognathic are so low I will barely get anything back so Now I am thinking of trying to find a new doctor but I still want one that focuses on aesthetics and who is known for their excellence but not as expensive as Gunson...

any doctor suggestions... I am checking out Posnick so far,.... who else?

I am located on the west coast so west coast docs would be nice but i am willing to travel as well.

thanks!

But after your surgery (and before you have to actually pay your hospital bill), wouldn't the claim then be approved and your bill chopped down to in-network rates? Does it really matter what the bill is prior to insurance processing it?
