Powerchains Only Hurt One Tooth?

#1 Post by an9el3md »

Hello. In my second ortho visit, I got power chains put on to close my bicuspid extraction gaps. My question is that my back tooth (I think its called a molar) hurts quite a bit, but the other tooth its attached to has no pain. Is this right? I really don't want my molar moving as I have overcrowding in the front. How does the moving work? Do they both move or is one a stronger anchor? Thanks :)

Well, molars generally have the most "anchorage" so if a force is exerted on two teeth, the molar is going to move less.

As far as the pain goes? It's kind of random which teeth hurt when... I wouldn't read too much into it.

This, right here. It's SO random. And it comes and goes. I can be completely fine after an adjustment then 3 days later have pain and then it's fine and then a couple weeks later have pain again...etc.

Just got the powerchain on top. No pain at all.. How disappointing.. Actually not surprised as the top arch is pretty well aligned horizontally.

I just got powerchains in both sides of my top teeth, except my two front teeth. It didn't hurt at first, but on the second day, chewing was really painful for me!

I found that if you keep chewing things it helps the pain go away. Sort of like when you wake up with a stiff knee but you keep moving it, then it gets better. The side I don't chew food with normally hurt until I practiced chewing both sides
