I guess the pain-free "removal" part must be true Sunshiney since you didn't feel it fall out of your mouth. I'm glad I didn't have to have any of those things. From your description it sounds like it was quite an ordeal. Braces have been quite enough, thank you very much.

Yay I made it through without any tears today! He numbed me up really good and I could feel a little pressure at the end but it wasnt painful. So to anyone who has read my dreaded story....TAD's arent bad all the time. It is now in a different spot and my speech is so much better!! I really felt like I had a lisp before the screw fell out. In the new spot I cant even feel it at all.

Annnd there were 2 other adults there, which has never happened so I felt good.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd he said I am on track to only having the braces 12 mos!! 4 1/2 mos down, 7 1/2 mos to go! Im kind of excited. I had always told people 12 months even though he told me 12-18 mos.....wishful thinking on my part. :P

Guess who is going to be full of metal by the time she has straight teeth? Yeah, me. :x

2 hrs of missed work Friday for the sucessful new screw to be put in. My teeth hurt and I didnt eat very much at all. Im used to the no pain brace thing so it worried me a little...lol I did not brush my teeth friday night because they were so sore. Saturday morning I get up, brush my teeth and pop. The coil that went from the TAD to the post on my back brace came off. Uh, now what? So I put it back on myself and was feeling all proud but a little concerned that it came off and on so easily. I go to lunch and it comes off again, ugh!! I go in the bathroom and I cant get it back on and it was disconnected at the same place so I decide to just eat and fix it afterwards while in my car. I ate. It was gone. I have to go back to the ortho tomorrow morning for some kind of fix. All the while Im thinking how this TAD deal is messing up my time at work and also I do not wanna go over the 12 mos. Stupid TAD!

Hello Sunshineray,

It was nice to read your update! What is the reason you are having the TAD? I hope that the TAD is doing good work, so that it is worth all the pain and inconvience!
I would love to see a picture of your recent progress. Maybe you can post one?
Good luck with your treatment, keep us updated!

Oh no! You really aren't having much luck with the whole TAD situation, are you? I hope it doesn't affect your 12-month timeline :?
Had Damons (ceramic upper, metal lower) from June 27, 2013 - January 20, 2015
15-18 month sentence, official time in braces was 18 months, 3 weeks, 3 days

I posted a message and came back to add to it and it never showed up. UGH!

So I go today to get the whole coil deal fixed. He's gonna use rubber blah blah and gave me a hard time about eating all this metal. He puts the new thing on (I'm assuming it was like a power chain) and he starts saying 'I cant believe this.' To make a long story short the screw that he said was 'rock solid' on friday was now loose. My mouth is in another time out and I am so disappointed. I go back in 3 weeks to get screw #3....all on the same side....and he is going to try to put it in at a different angle. I feel like Im just wasting time because Ive had no movement for 2 months over these screws. They need to be in there to bring the teeth back to allow for more room. I know things could be much worse but it still sucks. He told me that hes only had one screw ever come out and the girl got hit in the face with a sotball.

I need a nap!

Oh how frustrating. I don't think this is normal at all. Good luck! I hope he'll be able to get it all sorted out for you and you can move ahead with your treatment!

Dee, the ortho told me he has never had this happen with any other patient. He's busy and a well known practice so I dont know if its just me or what.

Lets see, after being in time out for about 2 months I was feeling very bad about nothing happening. Actually I know that things retracted back to pre-braces, which bothers me a bit. I can feel my overjet on my bottom teeth and knew where it was and it went further out because it was almost fully closed. And after telling the ortho this he agreed that there was more spacing too.

My appt was for Tue and we had snow and ice so I thought about cancelling because I dont like to drive in it. I am so anxious to get this back on track that I went ahead to the appt. There werent many people there so that was good. (remember some times I have to wait awhile) He put the TAD in with no pain........then said it was solid but wiggled sooooo he took it out. Numbed a new spot in the roof of my mouth (ouch!) and thats where the TAD is now. Each instance of it coming out was always on the one side and I chew on that side so Im guessing thats what the problem is.

He wasnt going to change my ligs because they were in such good shape but I went along with that last time and said no I want new ones this time. I havent been able to bite very well and my teeth hurt a bit but Im ok with that because it means progress.........AGAIN!

Oh and he still thinks I will be done at 12 mos.

Sounds as if things are moving along then. That's good! I have now been in my braces for over a year. My space on the top is about 95% closed so that makes me happy. Hang in there, kiddo! It's coming!

Just checking in-
My adjustment is next Thursday and I'm also taking my daughter for her consult there. She still has some baby teeth (12 yrs old) but I wanted to know what they thought her action plan would be.

The TAD is still in, which Im amazed because I touch it alllll the time with my tongue now to make sure its still there. Paranoia or obsession, Im not sure which it is. I will be interested to see if either of them are loose when I go next week. I sure hope not!

Power chains! I have had them since I got braces so 6 months. None of them ever came off until this last adjustment. Ive had to put them back on 3-4 times and I dont understand why. Its only when Im brushing my teeth so Ive been able to notice it and reattach. So now I feel like I try to avoid brushing my back teeth. lol, geez! Has this happened to anyone else? Usually the assistants change my ligs and power chains but the ortho did it this time after putting in the new TAD.

I feel like my teeth are moving back to where they need to be. I'm a little hesitant to think I will be done in 6 more months though.

I've been wearing power chains since about last January. I've never had any of them come off but I don't wear ligatures. I'm wearing Damon Q brackets so no ligs are required. I hope you'll be able to get your braces off in 6 months. I think I'm stuck in mine for about another year or so.
