Hi guys, I could really use some inspiration right about now! I have had my braces on for 3 years now. I'm nearing the end of my treatment but I am just so tired of life in braces! My original estimated time was 2 to 2.5 years.
I had an impacted canine which has been down for almost a year and a half. Every month is a step closer but just feels so far away This past month my ortho told me it could be anytime until I'm debraced, but there are still details that need to be fixed.
I just want what any 25 year old would want...to have a nice smile & to be brace free!
Is there anyone out there that feels like me?
When the end was actually close for me, it just couldn't come fast enough...it's like when you're in the middle you just kind of accept it...but ohhhhh boy--when you can actually see the finish line--the excitement, the thoughts of eating normally and flossing normally and being able to see the results---well the anticipation can get really overwhelming! You'll get there--and wow is it worth the wait!
I can understand you wanting the braces off right now, but think about the future too. I'd rather have my ortho fix everything right once than get back into braces later in life to fix the small problems that might come up.
Make sure your teeth are perfect for you no matter how long it take this time and wear you retainers.
Round 3 (lifetime) Damon stainless applied 3/16/20 (after 4 weeks attempting invisalign) On for about 18 months
Night time elastics with invisalign retainers; still...
Double jaw surgery was 6/18/15...
Orthodontics never really ends...
I'm emphatically against extraction orthodontics!
I am in the same boat as you I have had my braces for 2.5 years and probably have another year because my lower impacted canine refuses erupt fully. I know exactly how you feel I am so ready to get these braces off. The day can't come soon enough. I just keep telling myself it will all be worth it in the end. At least you don't have another year like me. I would switch with you an a heartbeat to hear my orthodontist to say anytime now lol
I was quoted 2 years, and here I am 2 years 6 months down the line and I'm still braced. Frustrating!
I'm close to being debraced, I know this because my ortho said at the last check 'once that gap closes we'll get you a date for having them taken off' BUT I've stalled because one of my front upper incisors needs to be rotated (my ortho keeps forgetting about it!) so I'm now waiting on the gap in my upper arch to close and I'll be looking at another 6 - 8 weeks after that while we wait on the front tooth rotating
You've come this far - what's another couple of months? You'd kick yourself if you got them taken off now and then had to do braces treatment again in a few years
If it makes you feel better - I'm 34 (nearly 35) married, with 3 kids and I cant tell you how much I really want these suckers off.
