right way to correct teeth??

#1 Post by ducky1900 »

I'm 28. parents couldn't afford braces so that's why i never had them as a kid. I have a 4mm overbite, a crossbite, AND crowding. i had my wisdom teeth (4) pulled a few years ago. i went to see an ortho. at their ortho. school at a local university. they had me get my 4 1st premolars out already. i heard that can mess up my facial profile?? they said because of my age expansion wouldn't work?? and there really was no room to make my teeth straight unless some were pulled.

i have a very small mouth. I currently have 12 teeth on the top and 12 on the bottom. the ones in the back are the flat ones (3 on each side) and 3 in the front (the ones right at the midline and 2 right by each one. my 2 front tops-what some might call buck teeth-are inwards very much. think of opening a book and it makes a V. when one looks at me that's what they would see when they see my 2 front top teeth. they're turned inward so much they are almost vertical.

the 4 teeth-i think they are called the lateral incisors (right by the very front teeth)-all 4 of them are a little too far back in my jaw so those need to be pulled forward.

Just the top jaw is being done right now. I was told that i would have a TAD in the roof of my mouth for anchorage? also something about a wrap-around damon bracket?? (they said something about Damon for this) to put on my 2 front teeth that are turned inwards to start moving them, indirect bonding??, a t-bar??, and a TPA appliance??. that's all i know of right now. i don't know about spacers, rubber bands, springs, etc. yet.

I do have clicking on the right side of my jaw. you can feel the pop when i open my jaw. if it's opened wide enough it will get stuck-it has before. my ortho. knows about that.

I'm wondering how the overbite and crossbite will get fixed since my jaw has stopped growing???? when my front teeth are straight will i still have the overbite??

also i don't think my mid lines match?? And will mouth breathing mess any of this up when my braces come off? I have very bad allergies and don't and CAN'T breathe through my nose because it's always stuffed up-just started allergy shots to try and fix that.

and I have a narrow pallate-roof of mouth-too.

i'd post a link that has my pic of hoe mu teeth are but I don't think i can because I just joined. I know i can't post pics on here yet.
