Getting braces 2 days before my Birthday!!

So I am turing 32 on Friday and will be getting my braces fitted only for my top teeth on Wednesday....any advice on what to expect??

Hmmmmm

If ur getting ur braces fitted then u should be no stranger to having people diggin around inside ur mouth...

My advise.....if ur pain tolerance is low...Take a pain killer before going to ur appointment...

Other than that...walk with chap stick..Ur lips get really dry during the process and may crack...

The process itself its that long....Assuming u r getting metal braces (like i had)

This is what i went through.
They put the cheek spreader thingy in ur mouth...Clean ur teeth with a sour tasting thingy....
Yuck DO not swallow that...

They took out the spacers sometime before that...and fitted 8 bands total. (I had spacers for about 1 week before.
Then they let ur teeth dry...Place the glue and then place the brackets. (The assistant did this) SO she called over the Dr. to check the placement of the brackets before activating the glue.

The dr. rearranged some brackets then told her to go ahead.She activated the uv light thingy to bond the glue...and then the dr. came over to place the archwire. He told me to choose a color for my ligs and that was that.....Gave me my ortho kit for home & a list of rules...Explained a few things and sent me on my way

I am getting the Porcelain braces. I have not had to have any spacers...so yes....

I am really nervous as I hear the pain really kicks in on the 2nd/3rd day...

That's true....

Yes.....it kinda does. Jus have ur soft food ready.....

And maybe some pain killer.

Don't expect extreme pain, many of us just experience some discomfort so it is not a given. Take motrin or other NSAID of choice as directed by your ortho. You'll do fine. Best of luck to you!

You may be a little sore so keep painkillers at the ready. And soft foods for the first few days.
And get an ice cream cake. Happy birthday

Hey... My brithday is Friday too! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Stock up on some softer foods and have a pain killer on hand (I like Aleve). The pain really wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be. Hopefully you'll have the same experience.

Just got back from having top ceramic braces fitted...i was SO SO nervous....and it was over before i knew it! I was expecting all this pain and agony and well, that has not kicked in yet...might only kick in in about 2 days time?
There were some ladies in the reception area waiting and they said my braces looked great and that you couldnt even notice them! That made me feel better. When I got back to work I asked some of my colleagues if they noticed anything different and none of them could point it out!

SO that makes me feel better.

I have some cement on my back molars so that I do not bite off the bracket on one of my teeth so that is causng me to talk a it funny, as if I have a lisp...other than that it just feels a bit weird but nothing that I cant get used to :) Here goes 12 months!!!
