Midline Timeline

#1 Post by hidakat »

Hi all,

I'm getting married in the second week of September. My midline is still off by a few mm and you can definitely see that is affecting the alignment of pretty much all the teeth on my right side. My orthodontist says we'll be cutting it close, but it's not impossible that I could be ready for debracing before the ceremony.

I'd love to know what everyone else's experience has been with getting their midline adjusted. How long did it take? Do you have any tips for me to help things along?

One thing's for sure, I'm wearing my bands like a maniac!

Mine was pretty off and was noticeably improved in two or three adjustments. You're doing right by keeping those elastics on! Good luck and let me know how it goes! Congrats on your wedding!!!

Mine took four to five months. That said, my orthodontist deliberately went slowly, starting me out with some fairly thin elastics.

It's difficult to tell for sure from your pictures, but it looks like you have some pretty heavy-gauge elastics. (And how long have you been wearing midline elastics?) Just keep wearing them as much as you possibly can, and you'll see an amazing difference. Good luck!

I've been wearing them for the last 4 months, but they haven't budged. My ortho says there's some crowding with the molars on my left side that is keeping my teeth from shifting, so at the end of this month I have to go get a bracket added to my very last molar on the left side. I wish we could have started on that sooner, now it looks like I won't be ready to debrace before I get married. Luckily my ortho took some pity on me and offered to take them off just for the week of my wedding. I just have to figure out how I'm going to fit in getting them back on between wedding (7 hours away from my ortho's office) and honeymoon.

I hope those molars get to moving quickly, I'm really looking forward to a lower maintenance mouth. :)
