Can't find one pic of wire ties on Ceramic braces.

#1 Post by Tashi23 »

I have looked almost everywhere and can't even find one pic, i am getting ceramic braces this Thursday and wanted to look into wire ties. I heard that they don't stain and wanted to see how noticeable they are. If you have a pic with wire ties and ceramic braces (yours or from the internet somewhere) it would be great if you could post it here. I'm just dying to see what it looks like. :?:

I currently have white ties on my top arch and a clear power chain on my bottoms. I LOVE the wire ties! I drink alot of coffee and I never have to worry about curry stains. I'll post a photo a little later on - but if the chance is there I say go for it!

I had several wire ties (albeit with metal braces) and I didn't like them very much. The twisted ends caught and shredded my floss and also caused more food to stick. They can only push those twisted ends so close to the bracket.

I'm fairly new to braces. Can one chose to have wire ties over elastic ligatures? At my first adjustment, my ortho just changed my ligatures. Instead of putting elastic ligatures on my canines, wire ties were put on them. I was under the impression that it would help straighten my rotated canines better due to not breaking down/stretching out as the month went on. I have to say it hurt soooo bad when she put them on (pressure from all the twisting to close them I guess).

They were really noticeable to me at first. But I don't notice them now.
I wasn't sure if that's what you were talking about. My brackets are self-ligating. The reason I have the wire ties were to keep those front teeth from separating. I've also had those wire ties used as a power chain to close space. The ONLY thing I don't like about them is that if you try to run your tongue across the front of your teeth, it'll get shredded! :( But they are very efficient at closing space and keeping teeth together. :D

I also have these wire ties but they aren't noticeable because I still have ligs over them: no idea why. They are a pain on my lower teeth because I can't use my Plackers Ortho picks to floss!

These are quite different to @bikerchick85 :) As you can tell, its been six weeks and while my horribly grungy powerchain (initially clear, but coming off on Wednesday) is quite yellow, my white wire ligs make my upper arch appear considerably brighter. LOVE THEM!

Here's another one for you. I'm at around 10 months in and I'm back down to the smallest wire due to them hooking up my rear molars which grew in at about a 45° angle. Notice the great mid lines  ... Hello surgery. If you're sharp, you can also notice where some of the bonding has begun to stain. I loves my coffee.

I might have to give these a try too. Do they need to be changed every month like elastic ligatures?
