So I've been given my second deband date of June 2nd and I still doubt my gaps are going to be closed by then. There are two very stubborn ones that I can fit my tongue in between. My ortho says one of them are fully closed, but surely I wouldn't be able to get my tongue in the gap if it was?
Really confused because I assumed that they would be tightly closed like my regular teeth...he even asked if I wanted them off because 'the gap wouldn't be that noticable', but I can feel it and that wouldn't feel like I had a perfect result.
Can anyone relate to this? Especially those who have been debanded already. Would really appreciate hearing others experience will getting their extraction gaps closed up!

I'm no expert, but that doesn't sound right to me. With a gap large enough to fit your tongue between, I would think teeth would eventually shift. Again, I'm no expert, but I suggest you let your ortho know that you aren't happy with the results.
@cata - Yeah I thought that would be the case too and it would be a hotbed for bacteria with food getting stuck between the gap. I'm just thinking there's no way these are going to be closed in such a short time, especially since they have moved so slow to get where they are now!
@oldfart (lol) - Straight, perfectly (as perfect as possible) aligned teeth. I don't think anybody with braces should be left with any form of gap.
I'm not super concerned or anything, I am sure he will give it another 6 weeks if I'm not happy with the gaps. I'm just wondering if this is normal and I'm being paranoid...

Even when my extraction gaps were tiny, my ortho wasn't satisfied and wouldn't move onto the next phase of treatment until they closed. So I'd say your result isn't the norm? Based on my experience.
I remember Lynn (the admin of Metal mouth) mentioned in her journal that she has a tiny gap that was unable to close by braces after 3 years. Her ortho has tried many ways and months but the original gap closed and a new one open. You may read her journal and find out her solution.
