You have taken a lot on but it will be worth it in the end, at least you are at home, when I had mine fitted I came straight back to the office where I am on the telephone constantly, good practice but soooo embarrassing!!

I clean my aligner with a soluble denture cleaner for about 3 minutes every morning while I have a cup of tea and just a light brush in the evening with a soft toothbrush.

Your mouth and teeth will be sore for the first week or so, this is a really good sign because it means that it is doing what it's meant to and moving your teeth.

For me, I only need my front two "big" teeth moving due to an accident I had as a 6 year old (technology has improved significantly, I'm 52 now!).

I would love to send you a before and after picture of the 3 week stage and will try to upload it here. If it doesn't happen PM me with your email address and I'll send it to you that way.

We will be able to catch up with our progress as your 1st review is the day before my 2nd one!

All the best.

To cjfarmgate,

My email address is northc27@hotmail.co.uk! Any photos would be greatly appreciated! Has your speech evened itself out a bit now then or are you still lisping loads? Its the only thing that's really bothering me at the moment!

Yes my speech has evened up now but I still have the lisp, it's the one thing I can't seem to overcome but it's nowhere near as bad as it was.
I have sent you an email this morning with the before and after pics. Hope things are improving a little for you.

Well it's been just over 2 weeks since I got my aligner. I can now say that most of the time I forget I've got it in. My speech has improved thank goodness and I'm now counting down til Wednesday when I get my first review at the dentist.

Best wishes to everyone having treatment at the moment.

Getting mine in two days....nervous about lisp, pain, speech etc! I'm off work for 8 weeks but I'm working from 10-2 for the first 3 days that I get them. Would you recommend wearing them for that time, leaving them out and wear them for the rest of the day or not starting for 3 days until I'm finished work? My job involves constant talking! Also do you really have to take it out for drinking tea?
Appreciate any feedback thanks

To tmcn,

Good luck with it all! I must admit mine have been on exactly a week now but the first 2/3 days are definitely the worst getting used to the speech and your teeth and mouth will be a bit sore!

My speech has improved loads since then though and still getting better daily and I'm sure its because I persisted in wearing it and only taking it out for meals and gradually have acclimatised to it! But unless you do that and persist in having conversations with it in you won't train yourself to do it. So hang in there and you'll be fine!

I'm now looking forward to having my review in a week to see how far they have come on I think I can already see a slight change which is positive!

P.s I've been taking mine out just for meals and having my hot drink after.
I'm not sure what the rules were on this so have been tying it in with the time its out anyway?

Hi, in answer to your 'tea' question. I'm pretty sure I read that you shouldn't drink hot drinks with it in. I've only drunk water with it, and to be honest it's felt very strange drinking with it in! I save my tea for when I'm eating so I've taken it out.

Good luck, and be assured your speech does improve!!

Hi, I've finished my inman aligner treatment a year ago but my dentist never provided me with retainers so I just took to wearing the aligners every night
However, I recently conducted some research and apparently, a retainer is necessary for the aftertreatment.
Thing is, I've actually had braces before the inman aligners so i already have a set of retainers but those were molded for my teeth after wearing braces, not the inman aligners

Recently, I stopped wearing my inman aligners and my teeth shifted back (they're not horrible because i already had braces) but still made the efforts of the inman aligners futile
so idk do you think there'd be adverse effects of wearing inman aligners every night for the rest of my life @_@
because originally they were intended for only a few months treatment and im scared there may be adverse effects on my teeth after wearing inman aligners for so long since they're probably
stronger in force than retainers

so should i just give up on them and let my teeth shift back? will that be healthier on my teeth in the long run

i can't go back to my original dentist nor afford a retainer so im very conflicted ahh

(sorry it's probably a petty problem compared to those of you actually undergoing treatment atm, but i feel kind of unresolved and idk what to do)

I'm getting on much better now thanks, I'm on week 5 now and visit my dentist next Tuesday for my next adjustment. I'm hoping that he will then do the impression for the next part of my treatment (the gum shield retainer thing) but having said that, I haven't noticed much difference this time so am a bit worried I may have a little longer with the Aligner in - hope I'm wrong but will post when I return on 8th July!

Hope you're getting on OK - how much longer do you think you've got to go.

I'm guessing that today is the day! Good luck, it will feel really odd to start with as cmeak28 has already told you, but she is right, keep it in as much as you can and you will get used to it and I promise your speech will improve. My job entails speaking on the telephone constantly and, like you, I came back to work the same day I had mine fitted ... it gave everyone here a laugh when I lisped my way through conversations I can tell you.

I've had mine for just over 5 weeks and saw a big change after about two weeks.

Do not drink anything hot with your aligner in, as in previous posts, you can drink cold drinks, in fact I find I drink more water than ever due to the fact that my mouth gets very hot from the amount of talking I do on the phone, have a bottle on your desk so that you can constantly sip it.

Hope this helps, it will all be worth it.

After all that work, I would go back and get an assessment to see if you need a retainer - got to be worth it to keep your nice teeth!
