Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.
I drink 2 coffees every day, one hot in the morning and then an iced coffee with a straw in the afternoon.
I eat pizza and crust and crusty French bread.
I've tried cashews and macadamia nuts, but I'm still scared of almonds....

And, I'm seriously considering eating some corn-on-the-cob on the 4th of July. Seriously, how bad can it be?!?!?

I caved the other day and finally tried popcorn (which I had not had in over a year) and it was glorious. Cleaning my teeth afterward was NOT so glorious but still totally worth it. However, I will never ever ever eat popcorn in public with these braces:

My Ortho's assistant says that their adult patients always eat No-No stuff before they come in because she can take out the rogue husks from corn/popcorn, and fix the bracket from a super chewy caramel or something super crunchysamoorelaw wrote:I caved the other day and finally tried popcorn (which I had not had in over a year) and it was glorious. I eat nuts (all kinds) and Doritos all the time. And drink coke zero.

Wait--we can't drink coffee? Why? Or just not with sugar?
Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.
I drink coffee every day. In fact I am drinking some right now. I think the reason it might be frowned upon is because of its staining potential. I live on the orthodontic edge, apparently.Ambrosia80 wrote:Wait--we can't drink coffee? Why? Or just not with sugar?

Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.
I drink 2+ cups of black coffee a day. I'll pay to get my teeth whitened after braces because I am not giving up coffee!

LOL!! I think I am going to have some now, too..
I have started drinking it with a straw--and putting creamer in it--because I was tired of having horribly yellow teeth because of it (drinking *black* coffee every day for like 20 years). That was VERY hard to get used to--and I almost gave it up because of how ridiculous it felt (and I hate using creamer)--but now months later I am finally used to the stupid straw--and my teeth are so much whiter! (Still yellow, but not nearly as bad as before! Lol)

Ha, I believe it. Because WE pay the bills, dammit, and we can eat whatever we want. Our kids with braces, on the other hand, cannot (again, the whole "they DON'T pay the bills but we do" thing). Ah, the joys of adulthood.SpottedPickle wrote:My Ortho's assistant says that their adult patients always eat No-No stuff before they come in because she can take out the rogue husks from corn/popcorn, and fix the bracket from a super chewy caramel or something super crunchysamoorelaw wrote:I caved the other day and finally tried popcorn (which I had not had in over a year) and it was glorious. I regularly drink coffee, wine, and other staining liquids....like curry.
I don't floss everyday.
I eat tortilla and pita chips.

OWW Yeah that may be dangerous! I doubt you'll break anything but you are going to have to RUN TO THE MIRROR!!! I was shocked the first time I ate corn cut OFF the cob... it was everywhere! lol If you try, take a picture after your first bite and post it! hajaime wrote:Famous last words!!TheProfessor wrote:And, I'm seriously considering eating some corn-on-the-cob on the 4th of July. Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.
I never quite understood the straw thing, because as far as I can tell the liquid will still hit your taste buds / tongue and presumably wander around the oral cavity before plunging down Mr. Esophogus. But if it works for you, that is great. I confess that I am often distracted when I drink coffee and it is not unusual for it to drip around my lips and find a new home on my shirt or pants. There was supposed to be some point to that last sentence connected with the straw technique but my brilliant thought escapes me at the moment. Obviously I need more coffee.Ambrosia80 wrote:djspeece wrote:I drink coffee every day. In fact I am drinking some right now. It reminds me of the Seinfeld episode wherein George begins to eat candy bars with a knife and fork in a failed attempt to look classy.
