These are my latest photos, a mixture of me posturing by moving my lower jaw forward to show how my new bite will be after my op and also my natural bite at the moment, from several angles. The ones from the lower angle clearly show how much of a bite I don't have, with only the back teeth actually meeting into a bite.

Oh boy, surgical hooks! Guessing the surgery is getting more real every hour.
Good luck and best wishes! I hope everything goes as planned and your recovery is short and as painless and trouble free as possible.

Round 3 (lifetime) Damon stainless applied 3/16/20 (after 4 weeks attempting invisalign) On for about 18 months
Night time elastics with invisalign retainers; still...
Double jaw surgery was 6/18/15...
Orthodontics never really ends...
I'm emphatically against extraction orthodontics!

Thanks Nozzlenut, yep got the surgery hooks a couple of weeks ago, though my lower braces had a few hooks on since the beginning of my treatment. It's slowly creeping up on me this week I will get my hospital bag ready. Thanks for the best wishes.

Thanks all, I have posted my surgery report in the oral/orthognatic section of the forum.
All well I had my BSSO on yesterday and was released this afternoon. I couldn't close my mouth yesterday but today is better. I was banded today and I have to go back next week. I am on a liquid diet for a week. I couldn't really open my mouth a lot yesterday and today after being banded also. It hurts to swallow, my face has swollen up but no bruising as yet, chin numbness and lip and gum numbness, can talk more today. Everyone pleased with my recovery and how it went. I'm pleased too that I decided to do it.

7 and 8 days after BSSO.
Double box formation elastics- heavy and annoying and really restricted mouth opening and speech. 3 of them snapped before my appointment to see my orthodontist- they had been fitted at an appointment I had at the hospital where my operation had been.

Re: Braces @ 32 with future jaw surgery
Hi all
My journey is nearing its end- I went to the orthodontist yesterday and she said I am ready to be de-braced. After my surgery I saw my orthodontist from week 3 post op every week for about 6 weeks and then I went on holiday for 2 weeks. The last appointment before my holiday was an improvement because the previous week had seen my bit open up at the back right hand side. At this stage we had reduced the elastic usage to night time wear only so she put me back onto 24 hour use and changed the formation.
I was a bit apprehensive as I don;t know, I didn't feel as if I am ready- weird I know but I said if she thinks so. She said the bit was steady and good and she shaved a bit off one of my front teeth as it was longer than the other- so now they both look even.
I will be de-braced on 14th October, fitted with a bonded retainer and measured for the removable one. Then back to collect the retainer 2 days letter. So my journey would have lasted 30 months.
Will post photos up when I get them.
