Is it a sin to buy neon orthodontic elastics (sealed packs of course) just because your ortho doesn't use them? Obviously making sure the sizes are the same.

Not sure on that one.

Alright, I've had braces for almost 5 months now and my sins have come a long way.

-I rarely floss. My sister who also has braces chastises me over it and I get good for a few days, and then drop off the bandwagon.
-I've eaten almost everything on the "no" list, including popcorn and sticky candy. I am still avoiding nuts and taffy, though.
-If it's sugary or it stains, I probably consume it daily.
-I don't own a Waterpik (that's more of an ArchWired.com sin than an ortho one!)

I'm not even two whole months into treatment and I've committed so many!

I love popcorn and still eat it, lots of chips and crackers, and even gum a few times. I didn't realize soda and sugar was supposed to be avoided. I don't drink soda regularly but I've had a couple and had a lot of sugary treats.

I had curry right after my first adjustment and my bands were stained bright green for a couple of weeks. A pumpkin spice latte later stained them orange.

I do water floss almost everyday but I don't do regular flossing very often. It just takes way too long and I feel like my waterpik does an amazing job.
Braced 7/30/14, upper and lower ceramics. Treatment time 20-24 months. Treating an open bite.

this is so much fun...love it! I'm almost 3 weeks in with my braces and i've committed sins I didn't even know about! I eat chips and had hard shell tacos for dinner. I drink dr coke every day. I have hard candies, but do no chew them. After reading this, I guess I need to get more adventurous and chew some gum and eat some sticky candy!  :jokerlaugh:

I've added a few sins to the list.

-my ortho and assistants forget to put the power chains back on multiple times, the spaces in between my teeth have opened and closed following suit of their forgetfulness so I've purchased my own power chains to keep the spaces closed lol! If only the ortho could see this! HAHA ooh I feel good now.

-polished off 2 entire packs of hard dried jerky a few weeks ago!

-regularly eat hard chips

-I adjusted the springs on my braces because they started to push my teeth off center, my middle tooth had drifted to one side of my face and now it's starting to come back

I brush my teeth before breakfast, sip coffee for a couple hours, and don't brush again until after lunch.

I only floss a few times a week.

I'm not supposed to drink wine and coffee? Well I do, and I use whitening toothpaste too. I plan to whiten my teeth before getting an implant so I'm not too worried about stains.

I never want to eat something more than when I can't have it; so, I've had pretty much every hard, chewy, crunchy thing I ate before braces. It hurts to eat steak? I MUST order steak.

I'm only a month in so I might grow to regret it, but in the meantime, a fork and knife are my partners in crime.

Sweet tarts. MMM. Although I didn't chew them and the roof of my mouth was sore the next couple of days.

My sweet tart fetish may have cost me. Both bands on the side I chew them with were loose and needed to be replaced. Okay. Cross Sweet tarts off my list.

I have coffee...3 cups every morning just about. But hey, doesn't the heat activate the wire anyway :D

Whitening toothpaste is my friend

I eat chips and salsa until I hate myself.

I don't think I'm flossing correctly

I tried biting into an apple last week. After one successful bite, I realized that it is not the same as biting into an apple with naked teeth. Now that mystery is solved...
