My whole world changed just over 2 years ago. I first was in a fender bender which I did have whiplash. I went to physical therapy and like an idiot I let a chiropractor adjust my neck immediately I had instant jaw pain, I had boughts with tmj throughout the years after about 5 days the pain subsided but was always present. 2 weeks later I was eating some bacon and I snapped a premolar tooth to the gum line which was previous root canaled no crown. I had it extracted which it took over 2 weeks to close up and heal. Then my life took a change for the worse. I avoided the left side and began eating only on the right side, then the exact same tooth on that side gave out, it had been horribly sensitive for years after a tooth cleaning extreme pain when biting down so I elected to have tooth pulled dentist said thought cracked and gave me a 50/50 chance a root canal and crown would work. He pulled the tooth and sure enough he counted 5 cracks. Then the jaw pain was getting a little worse, I called the dentist and asked what could have happened, she asked me if I grind not to my knowledge, few days later husband said he heard me grinding a lot in my sleep. I found a denturist and had a mouth guard made within a week, the extreme pain went from an 8 to a 3. I have had the guard for 11 mos. I have been to 2 dentists and a sinus doctor and they had no idea about my jaw face pain. I went to a 3rd dentist 2 weeks ago and oh so thankful. I told her my story and she checked my bite and said its off and to see an orthodontics which I just did a few days ago.
Ortho said this: Crowding 4mm upper, 4 mm lower
spacing: upper is check boxed.
Crossbite: Upper is check boxed.
open bite: 1mm
overjet: 5mm
then it says: Youtube Searun Tongue thrust exercises and continue to practice.
I am pretty shocked all of this happened. I was asked just prior to the car accident if I wore braces because my teeth were just perfect.
1. Will the grinding stop once this process is started?
2. Will the face, jaw pain subside?
3. Should I see a tmj doctor before any braces are placed? Scheduled one but reluctant to mess with my jaw at all.
4. How bad are my Numbers?
Thank you very much for reading this, and thankful for this site, a lot of awesome info.

None of your numbers are particularly severe, but certainly still worthy of correction. Your braces may stop the grinding, maybe not. A healthy bite will, however, make the grinding less damaging if it does continue.
