Inman aligners

Re: Inman aligners
Got my bonded retainer fitter last Friday, such a difference having no aligner to wear or no blobs on my teeth.
Anyone got any suggestions on a good water or air flosser to use now as I can't usual normal floss. I have already tried the super floss but just wrecks my head trying to poke through the little gaps now. Thanks.

Re: Inman aligners
So happy,it took 14 weeks.I also had a gingevectomy I think it's called where they laser at the top of my teeth to show more teeth less gum as you can see the front tooth was bad and the sides.Btw it hardly hurt at all and healed very quickly

Rosiesue - I have the same problem as yours. Could you tell me how you got things resolved?
Re: Inman aligners
To give more detail. After fitting the retainers at the back of top, my teeth moved and created a gap between the central and lateral incisors. Has anyone experienced similar thing and how did you solve it?

Re: Inman aligners
Hi All, I just found this forum. I got my inman aligner yesterday and was looking for answers as to whether I will be able to speak properly while i have it in. I assume it will always be slightly different but at the moment I sound like daffy duck lol. Any advice would be welcome, also I am unable to see attachments on here, does anyone know what I need to do to get access to see the attachments, I'm quite interested in seeing before and after pics, gives me hope that it'll be worth it in the end.

[quote="RG*"]Hi I'm 32 years old and my biggest fear ever "apart from
Smiling " is the dentist !!!! . I have a very crooked front tooth which peptides and is 5mm over jet n a huge gap -very unsightly .
Always hated my teeth resulting in quite low confidence . Recently went with my mum to her dental appointment and decided spur of the moment to have a quick word with her dentist. He told me about the inman aligner , I had never heard of this before and was intrigued !! After a small amount of research I decided "before I changed my mind" to take the plunge and I am currently into my 3rd week of wearing it - on day one I thought it was the worst and most expensive decision of my life !!! Was highly embarrassed about how it looked , how it felt and mostly of how it affected my speech . I couldn't stop gagging and wouldn't talk and seriously wished I had not had it . 3 weeks in and my speech is almost normal as it was before , the brace is hardly noticeable and I'm finding it really easy to wear. There's not much info about regarding the IM so to anyone considering doing it I would say go ahead !! So relieved I had finally started to do something about my smile - only a short while in but can already feel movement :-) this site is brilliant for lots of worries and queries so a big thank you to all that take the time to post

I know this post was a while ago but I am new to the site today, so I am reading through old posts. So glad to hear that the speech improves, thats the only thing really worrying me at the moment(only day 2 for me). I'm surprised at how tender me teeth are when I take it out and put back in to eat etc, didnt think I would feel that so soon, but I'm hoping that means its doing its job.

Hi Jenwaltono1
It seems you are getting on fine with your aligner, I finished all my treatment back in November last year and it is definitely worth it - I felt just like you for the first couple of weeks, awful speech and a very sore mouth but persevere with it all and you will be delighted with the results.

Thanks cjfarmgate,
How long did yours take and did you have much to align? Are you now wearing a retainer at night? Is it like a clear plastic mould of your teeth? Just wondering what they are like.
I have one tooth set back, my upper left lateral incisor, it sits behind my lower teeth when closed, so i am having it brought forward in line with the other top teeth.
Thanks again for your comment.

Re: Inman aligners
Hi Jenwaltono1
From start to finish it took 6 months BUT I only wore the aligner for 7 weeks and had adjustments 3 times during this period, I then moved on to the clear plastic (Essix) retainer which is lovely compared to the inman, this doesn't affect your speech at all and is comfortable to wear and I had to wear this just as much as the aligner. Again, adjustments were made and a new retainer made to fit. Then, finally I had the fixed retainer fitted which doesn't bother me at all. The reason for my treatment was that at the age of 6 I knocked my two front teeth out and, although the dentist saved them as they years have gone by I have needed to have veneers to cover up the dark shade from nerve damage, also the worst one had dropped down considerably (I'm now 53) and my dentist mentioned this treatment to me when he was preparing my teeth for new veneers! Six months later, I can smile with confidence again and it was worth all the visits and stress of the inman. I have tried to post before and after pictures on here but don't seem to be able to - I am happy to scan a copy over to you if you want to send me a private message. Let me know if I can answer any more questions. CJ

Re: Inman aligners
Hi cjfarmgate,
Wow that sounds great, I cant wait to feel confident about smiling. I'm only on day 3 so a long way to go yet, my teeth are aching so much when I take the aligner out to eat, can hardly bite into food, but no pain no gain I guess. My speech is still very bad, my kids think its hilarious, which actually helps me just laugh about it and not be too self conscious. I do hope it improves though, I dont want to be talking like this for the next 12-16 weeks, which is how long my dentist thinks it will take.
I'll try and send you a PM but not sure if I have access yet, I know my access is rectricted until I have sent a certain amount of posts and my username turns green.

Hi sinder77,
I cant see you pics yet as I havent posted enough time, hopefully I will get there soon as I cant wait to see everyone pics. Until mine is finished I'm not sure but I may also need a gingevectomy(if thats what its called), the gum line on the tooth that I am having brought forward is lower than the others but may not be too bad as i dont think it will show when I smile, I will have to make a call on it when the tooth is in place but thats why I am especially interested in seeing your pics, also glad that it wasnt too painful and healed quickly, the thought of it scares me a little and also concern that the part of the tooth that is then exposed would be very sensitive, did you find that after it was done or do they put some sort of protective layer on the newly exposed part of the tooth?
Sorry for all the questions.

Hi Jenwalton01
Your speech will improve and your mouth will start to feel more comfortable so stick with it. I drank loads of cold water to cool my mouth down and I this definitely helped - I would recommend you read out loud to improve your speech, even though it sounds stupid it really does work - I read a whole book to my husband during my treatment! lol

Hi cjfarmgate,
Sorry i dont have access to PM yet so I can message you for pics, still not got the access, waiting on my username to turn green so I can access everything.
I have been speaking out loud to myself during the day to try and help my mouth get used to it, luckily I work from home, so can do it without anyone hearing me, I just need to pop the aligner out whenever the phone rings.
Thanks for the advice and encouragement, I do appreciate it. I just have to keep telling myself it will be worth it when its done.

Hi All, sorry another question, what is the best thing to clean the inman aligner with? Thanks
