Inman aligners

I think in an ideal world I would prefer the Invisalign as it sounds like this is much less noticeable and intrusive, however for the sake of a couple of months of a brace (fingers crossed) i think I should go with the most cost effective. If you don't mind me asking, have you paid for yours straight up or are you on a dental finance plan for this? It would be good to get various opinions on this actually, if anyone else wouldn't mind sharing.. It's quite a lot of money and not something I can afford to part with as a one-off payment so I'm hoping I can discuss a suitable plan to make monthly payments with my dentist. I've heard this is possible with Invisalign but not heard anyone mention it with Inman however I guess this is down to the dentist?

The tooth I want to correct is on the top set, and its to the right of the front 2, I think that's the incisor? It sticks outwards slightly so I want it straight with the others. Does anyone have any idea on what kind of correction would be involved here? as ive read through the posts and noticed some people have quite differant correction processes.

Luckily my sister-in-law is a dental nurse and has got me in to see the dentist she works with for a free consultation. They don't actually do the braces there unfortunately but I'm hopeful I can get an honest opinion of what is best for me that way, and will then be referred :)

I just got the call from my dentist that my IA is in, but they are still waiting for the case to come in. They booked me for 3 weeks from now on May 27. What kind of special case is this that takes a month to deliver? Where's it coming from?

I have no idea why it would take so long for the case, if its like mine its just a basic plastic case to store the aligner in when not in use, nothing fancy.

I agree, I would of gone Invisalign for the same reasons but as the treatment time for both is only a matter of months, I thought with the saving I would make having the inman, it would be worth it.

Regarding payment, I thought I would have to pay up front, but my dentist was happy to take just £500 to start, and I can pay the rest during my treatment, as long as its paid off by the end.

My correction is doing the opposite, as mine is set back, but the inman has a bar that sits across the front of the teeth and then one that sits behind, they apply pressure to the teeth to set them straight, so I assume whether the tooth is having to come forward or backwards, its a similar treatment. Other things to take into consideration would be whether you have enough room for the tooth to be pushed back in line with the others, or does it stick out slightly because another tooth is in the way? All things your dentist will discuss with you and can then come up with the best treatment plan.

I'm making payments too. I put half on a dental finance plan, and the other half is being billed by the office for 6 months.

No, I still talk like a stroke victim :) But I will say my spec check has improved drastically since day 1. The first couple weeks I was too embarrassed to wear it at work, but this week I finally got the guts. Everyone has been very understanding...but they definitely got their laughs in. I go around reciting funny rhymes with lots of S's and they get a good giggle. Are your teeth sore?

Hi, luckily I work from home so don't have to worry about that, I just pop it out every time the phone rings. I have got better at wearing it out and about, I think to myself, the more I wear it, the quicker it will be done, so I'm just getting on with it.

Yes my teeth were sore the first few weeks, they are fine now while the aligner is in, although they still hurt when I take the aligner out to eat, chewing anything is difficult. The main thing for me at this point is the top tooth that is being brought forward is now almost level with the bottom set, so when I take the aligner out to eat/drink, the tooth scrapes on the bottom teeth which feels really odd, kind of the same sensation of nails on a blackboard! But hopefully it wont be too much longer until that tooth is then sitting in front of the bottom set

I have been taking progress pics each week, so that I can see any difference because I dont think you notice it yourself as you look every day. Its also a good way to make you feel better if you are getting fed up of not being able to speak properly etc, reminds you it'll be worth it.

You're lucky to get to work from home :) It definitely takes some getting used to wearing it out in public. I'm like you, I just want it over too so I've been leaving it in as much as possible now. At least once a day I'm like ugggh, I just want this thing OUT of my mouth. So I'll take it out for a few minutes just to rid mouth of that sensation then pop it back in.

I've been taking pictures as well although my dentist said not to expect a whole lot of movement the first month because I've got an expander on mine. He said the first month will mainly be just stretching my mouth out then after that he will adjust my retainer and there will be noticeable movement quickly after that. I'm so ready to see something LOL.

Nails on chalkboard. ..yikes!!! Hopefully that tooth moves forward quickly!

I am on week 8 after deciding to take the plunge as i have always hated my crooked teeth. I have the built in expander and am so pleased that I can see my teeth moving eventually. I am really starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and the end is in sight.

I am new to this site, i went online looking for any detail i could get in relation to the inman aligner. I got my inman aligner 4 days ago and to be honest i am just looking to hear something positive about it. For me, i am struggling at the moment, i feel guilty when i take it off but yet i hate having it on. I have no pain when im wearing it but when its off i cannot eat properly and the pain when i put it back on is fairly bad for a couple of minutes. Can anyone here who has had a positive outcome from the inman aligner tell me that it gets better?? i have no idea how long my treatment will take the dentist says it will take a couple of months and i just cannot see myself with this for a couple of months? Does it get better? My husband tells me its like living with Daffy Duck?? My kids laugh when im trying to correct them for being naughty, i really do sound awful so i try not to talk. I am starting to think that i just wasted a lot of money, money i did not have to waster in the first place!!!

Hi it will get better. I felt exactly the same as you with speech and the pain but I am on week 8 now and the pain has gone and have getting used to it now. I am much more at ease now wearing it and not as self conscious when out and about although the speech is still not great. I think you just get to the point where you just accept that you have to wear it if you want it to work.

At least once a day I'm like ugggh, I just want this thing OUT of my mouth. So I'll take it out for a few minutes just to rid mouth of that sensation then pop it back in.

Ah yeah, once the expander has done its job, you will hopefully start seeing the change, I was so shocked at how quickly I saw a change quickly, it makes it easier to put up with wearing it all the time.

It's so great when you start seeing movement isnt it. How long did your dentist say your treatment will take? Mine said 12-16 weeks, I'm a little behind you on week 5 now, but feeling positive
