El ortho es muy contento. She was extremely surprised by the amount of movement I had. She gave me a stronger wire and engaged by bottom rear molars. Now I can't eat for the life of me.

Yeah, having my back molars hooked up made it hard for me to eat as well... maybe for 3 days.
My bite has improved a lot though since though.

I can chew again, thankfully.Dougsey wrote:Yeah, having my back molars hooked up made it hard for me to eat as well... maybe for 3 days.

I'll be posting picture very soon on my progress. Hope all is well with the community!

Seeing as I am a month late in my updates, my teeth look astounding. Will attempt at posting pictures for all of you!!

Hi Ig, Do you wear those elastics full time? At my last appointment, I was assigned triangle elastics hooked on the top cuspids (3's) to two brackets underneath on the bottom. Similar to your setup only one tooth back. I find that I am too self-conscious to wear them at work, so I don't.
Looking forward to your updated pics!

To be honest I don't at work either, it's just a lot for me to take in and not constantly think about how people will stare. I wear them right when I get home and honestly the progress I have made is astounding. My orthodontist is amazed by my movement alone so I don't think my elastic wearing schedule has hindered my progress in any major way! They gave me elastics on the front of my mouth, triangle from my top canines to my bottoms, straight up and down and then on to the outside of the bottom. So when I talk you see 4 bands. Just looks terrible.Dougsey wrote:Hi Ig, Do you wear those elastics full time? So my bracket breaks. Sure, no problem. I go and get it fixed, as the girl puts the wire back in she breaks the bracket again so I'm like great. She goes I'll get another bracket and all the crap. She goes gets another one and the Ortho comes over and goes okay and puts it on and then says "it's the wrong size bracket" I don't think anything of it. My high strength wire the next day pops out of the supposedly smaller bracket and now I can't put it back in the bracket. Now my Ortho is 30 minutes away so I'm not exactly looking forward to taking off from work to get a wire simply placed back in. I'm going to raise a bit of hell and ask for the proper bracket size or something

Thank you for all the kindness ^^
Update: Been about 5 months now. Last appt. I received a TAD in my palat, and propel on my upper molars. And holy crap I didn't like the experience. First, the Novocaine didn't numb me properly, so my ortho kept touching spots with the TAD and it hurt every where she touched. She then spot numbed where it was going and that was fine but when she started screwing in there was a slight bit of pain and a lot, and I mean a lot of pressure. Sure, if the novacaine was done properly, I would've been fine but overall the TAD was in and I actually prefer it over a palatal arch (which suck).
Then there was the propel.
This mother, was insane. It involves drilling a screw in between the teeth to stimulate the bone leading to faster teeth movement. This is where I bled, a lot. So she did this 6 times in total and it was quite an eye opening experience.

I didn't like Propel much either. I had seven holes drilled with it, also to move a molar and I bled like crazy. The next day it sort of felt like Mike Tyson punched me in the face. I'm hoping not to need any more Propel teatments, it was not fun at all.
Lower braces on March 11, 2015, upper braces added July 14, 2015.
Damon, metal bottom / clear top.
Braces off March 26, 2018: Total time in braces: 3 years, 2 weeks and 1 day.
Hawley retainers top and bottom.

It was absolutely brutal. Just the concept of what was happening is what got me.Prometheus wrote:I didn't like Propel much either. Still in limbo, the part of the braces treatment that isn't very eventful lol! So I have a TAD in my arch and the power chains attached from my molars to the TAD have broken so that's about it as far as eventful repairs. My next appointment is the 23rd of December where I'm due for another round of propel. Tempted to take a shot of whiskey or two and just take on the torture head-on. Will try to post pictures soon, I sound like a broken record. Again just want to thank everyone for the support, it has helped me tremendously through this all. If any one has any questions for me about what people ask / say about my braces or any social interaction just let me know! I know that was a lot of the questions I had when I was on the fence of getting braces. Looking back I am so glad I made the step and got these puppies slapped on my teeth because holy crap it's wonderful feeling your teeth and bite Come into alignment. If only there was a free orthodontist treatment raffle I could win, the $250 a month is killer LOL!
