invisalign with extraction

I just had consultation with 2 orthodontist and both said I need to extract my 4 teeth in order to straighten my protrusive front teeth on both upper and lower arch.
They recommended traditional/ clear/ceramic braces.
But I would like to go for Invisalign due to aesthetics reasons. Both said it is impossible to use invisalign with extraction at this time.
Any suggestions? Is it impossible? Has anyone done it? What is the outcome? Any information is appreciated.

There are few doctors in the world doing four premolar extraction treatment with Invisalign with excellent results. The reason for this is that it is not easy to move roots of the molars and premolars while keeping them parallel. More often than not, many doctors find the teeth will tip so the crowns of the teeth will touch, but the roots of the teeth will still be apart.

At MCO Orthodontics, we have worked on several different protocols to help our patients achieve the results they want with extractions and Invisalign. Generally, this treatment will be done with AccceleDent and takes about 2 years and we feel fortunate to be able to offer this to our patients.

I too went for getting invisalign braces as I had a minor protrusion that has been bothering me. I visited Dr. Jennifer in City Oasis Dental in Toronto and she told me I have to extract 4 teeth. I was 21 years old then and I too didn't want metal braces but she told me I cannot get invisalign if I were to get my teeth extracted. I felt really sad at that time but now I'm really happy to see the changes. I had worn the metal braces for nearly one and half years and now I'm wearing my retainers at night.
I think it's better to listen to your orthodontist as they know what is best for us. My orthodontist told me if I need to extract my teeth then the best way to complete the treatment is with full braces as they will close the space between the teeth.

As described above, whether treatment can be done with Invisalign depends on the experience and skill of the doctor as well as what needs to be done for the correction. Perhaps in your doctor's hands, braces were better because she was more comfortable with that than Invisalign. We too have had many patients tell us they were not candidates for Invisalign by other doctors, yet finished Invisalign treatment successfully with us.

A side note that your doctor is not an orthodontist. She is a general dentist.
