Extended Time
I've had my top braces in for two years and the bottom ones in for 16 months. The original treatment time was estimated for 24-30 months, total. My orthodontist told me yesterday it would be an additional 18 months. My lower front teeth have been labeled as "slow and stubborn". I do realize that my age of 43 isn't helping. Each time I've gone to the ortho, it has been disappointment after diappointment. Anyone experiencing the same issue?

Re: Extended Time
I was told ~24 months. I'm only into it 12.5 months so far but have been told its going very slowly. I now realize I will not finish on time, but how much longer I have no idea. I have a posterior cross bite which means moving molars a good bit. I'm 59 so I too expect age has something to do with it. 73, -.-

Re: Extended Time
And this is why orthodontic services are usually priced as a lump-sum, no matter how long it ends up taking in the end. In any case, you are better off with an ortho that takes his/her time to get the best result than one that tries to claim you are "as good as you are going to get" just to free up chair time.

What oldfart and sirwired said!
My two year sentence was extended to three. My orthodontist: "Well Dan, some patients are just more dense than others, hahahahahahahahaha."

Mine overran too. I didn't really focus on a finish date as I just wanted to get a fantastic result irrespective of how long it took and looking back, I'm so glad I let my ortho take his time.
