Hello everyone.

I had my Inman aligner fitted yesterday afternoon. I was expecting mild discomfort as had a train track brace as a kid but my god this is horrendous. I can barely stand my teeth touching each other and brushing them was torture this morning. I avoided breakfast and will skip lunch as the thought of taking it out and having to put it back in again is filling me with dread. Please tell me it gets better? Or will it just start to ease off and then be time to turn the key to tighten it again?

I have been estimated 3-6 months for treatment. My teeth were filed yesterday and I have composite blob things on the front of my sticky out tooth and behind my two front teeth which I think is making the pressure so intense as it's keeping it in one localized spot.

I am working a 12 hour night shift tonight so hoping I can get some soft food down me and not be in too much pain and discomfort . I guess plus side is I will lose some weight lol.

Yeh it will ease off. It's just that your teeth are in shock at the moment. Most of the time when I turn mine now it doesn't feel any different. Give it a day or 2 and u will be fine. X

Me and Claire, one of the other girls on here are coming towards the end of our treatment. Had the inman for around 11 weeks. I have an appt next week to sort out the retainer and then 2 wks after that I'm done. So 13 weeks in total. I can't see it taking you 6 months! The maximum is usually 16 weeks! So 4 months.

I hated the inman at first. Loads of spit in my mouth and ended up with horrible ulcers. But honestly it improves with time. As does the speech.

Mine only feels right occasionally now and then it's only for an hr or two and then it feels slack again. Things are still moving even when it feels slack. They may be sore at first but it will wear off. Also, they will move loads after a filing session so take loads of pics. I have millions! It's worth the suffering for a few months. X

Thank you Becky. Well I just got home from my nightshift and I am in lots of pain and my cheeks are starting to cut even with the wax stuff over the sharp bits digging in. Just hoping over the next few days the pain subsides. It's worse when I have to put it back in after brushing and I actually dread it so barely eaten since I had it put in on Thursday.

I went back to look at your photos but says I don't have permission to view them so can't see them.

I will take weekly photos of mine to see if I can notice the changes x

Hi,

I am really considering the IA and am searching for where I can get this done inWest Yorkshire... Any recomendations? Also How much should I be expected to pay? I have only read the very early discussions and they are from 8 years ago so I'm not sure if prices have changed since.

Thank you

Hi yas I don't live in West Yorkshire but I am from Essex and I paid £1615 for the aligner, teeth whitening and a bonded retainer afterwards if that helps

Thanks Jenna, I'm a little scared and would prefer to go through recomendation rather than a list. Hope your treatment is going well.

Go for consultations at your local dentists who provide it and get a feel for who you think would best suit you.
I went to two places before making my decision and I am really happy with my treatment so far.
I have only had it in 5 days so still early on but already noticing a difference which I wasn't expecting to see anything for a few weeks yet

So, I've rang around today and got an appointment at one place on May 12th, however one other place said they only did this for very few people and would need to see me first and it may be that I need 6th month smile or Invisalign... I really hope to qualify for IA as my teeth are very similar to the before pics I've seen on website.

Most dentists give u a free initial consultation so just go to a couple and see what they say. U originally went for invisalign but then he offered me all of the options. Instead of 18 months with invisalign he said the IA would take 12 weeks! If u aren't happy when u go u don't have to go ahead. I went to a private dentist. It's cost me a fortune really, 1800 + 200 for the expander brace + 150 for the retainer wire and retainer at the end. Includes £500 whitening treatmen . So cost me 2150. But, he's the best dentist I've ever been to and I trust him implicitly. I know he would never suggest something just to make money. I'm so happy with the results so far and look forwards to going. Look at dentist reviews online. X

My consultations were both free and we went through all different options on what I would be suitable for then gave me a week to decide before going ahead.
It's hard to go by other people's results as my teeth look identical to a study photo and said 9 weeks with the Inman aligner yet I have been told up to 6 months by my dentist

Hi guys!

Welcome newbies!

My dentist is in bury. I originally found him on groupon. The offer is still on there now. I paid £695 and that includes everything even fixed retainer. I originally went for a consultation. He took mounds of my teeth and sent them to the lab to see if I would be suitable. The moulds came back and he emailed me a mock up before and after picture of what my teeth will look like and asked if I would like to proceed and it went from there. I got my brace on 28th Jan and I have around 3 weeks left. I got to keep the moulds and my teeth are almost identical now to the after mould. Its amazing how much they've moved in such a short space of time.
I would 100% recommend my dentist. Adam Nulty - dentist on the rock - bury
My offer didn't include whitening but he only charges £95 for that. Hope this helps
