Claire I can't turn anymore. He said I could turn it twice the last 2 weeks. The excitement! Haha.

So nice of you to post to us who are still going through it! So you're still happy 9 months later? That's a good sign! We have been discussing possible relapse after treatment but I'm guessing you haven't had anything like that which is great :)
Do you have the fixed retainer?

Claire
Hi Claire,

No I have had no relapse that I have noticed, I don't have a fixed retainer I have an Essix retainer which I wear every night when I go to bed.

I'm due for my normal check up at the dentist next month so will ask him to have a look then to check for any movement but I'm pretty sure there hasn't been any.

Jen

Hi Claire,

My story sounds identical to yours. Wanted braces for years. Seen the Pure Clinic £800 offer and was going to do that but didn't as I seen things on Facebook about them taking a while for first appt! Left it months and seen dentist on the rock for £695. Went for consultation this week and go back for impressions next month then forgot two weeks later!

Did he mention at consultation you would need expander? He didn't mention this to me.

Thanks for all the Info!

Hi Danni,

No way that is a very similar story ha! No I didn't know I was getting the expander brace until I went to get it fitted. He just said that some have a key that you have to turn every week and some don't but other than that they are exactly the same.
I can't believe what a nightmare I had with pure clinic and this has just been so easy from start to finish.

I know, I'm so glad I didn't go with pure clinic now. Just had a bad feeling about it tbh n was wary. When I rang to enquire they were really pushy and constantly rang asking if I am booking in! Then seen this one and had a better vibe so thought why not! I rang up and asked would I be suitable before buying group on and they said I can come for a free ten min appt to check if I'm suitable an they would do impressions of so. Not pushy at all. Got there and they were really busy so I think that's why he's left the impressions til next time. He said instantly that I'm suitable and it will be a really straight forward and quick procedure tho. Fingers crossed. I won't be wearing it for 6-7 hrs a day for work so may take a long time.

Yeah when I went for mine in December he'd not been open long so he could fit me right in but he just gets busier and busier each time. When I went for my consultation he was really unsure I'd be suitable because my teeth were really crowded so we had to wait for my impressions to come back from the lab so when he emailed me the pics and told me I was suitable I was over the moon. I don't wear mine during working hours and it doesn't seem to have slowed my progress down at all xx

Aww that's good to hear, can't wait til it's done! Maybe he wasn't sure whether u were suitable cos he'd just opened and hadn't done many clients yet, but he can tell just by looking now having done more. I think my teeth are really bad, I'm so paranoid but he seemed to think they were minor! I can't see pics you've put on (seen comments that you can only see em after posting so many comments). Mine are crossed at the front, don't see how the IA can sort it out cos I've read it just pushes teeth back but he says it will work.

You need to post more posts so that your name goes green. You can then view pictures.

Thanks Becky. Seen a comment u wrote earlier about IPR and just wondered what that is? I don't know whether I will have this or the expander.

It's interproximal reduction. Basically then use very fine sandpaper kinda strips to go in between teeth to make little gaps so they can move. I have the expander and I've had ipr, as has Claire. It doesn't make your teeth look smaller or anything. I was 100% not having it done because I was worried about it but the dentist assured me my teeth would look the same and they do. X

Well he has just opened his own practice but he has had lots of previous experience as he used to work for his dad who is a dentist and he has won lots of awards etc. My friend is a dental rep and has known him a long time she 100% recommended him so I was more than happy. And he is a bargain! He's so lovely as well, I think the reason he is so busy is because all his old patients have followed him. You only need to post 10 posts to be able to pos and view pics. Just post lots of crap ha xx

Oh so it's the filing? He said I would have that. Was nervous about it but I hate my teeth so much an am willing to take any pain to get straight teeth haha.

So good to hear he's highly recommended. It's scary letting someone mess with your teeth, defo reassuring hearing that.
