Gilly mine was like that to begin with. I was actually in a lot of discomfort and my teeth were so tender that I actually dreaded taking it out to eat (which was only soft food at first) and to clean teeth but after a week or so that died Down and it's just the normal pressure I feel now which I feel in different places places depending on which tooth is moving.

I still have a lisp so don't think it will go bit my speech is much better now than at the beginning.

Hi Jenna,

I have read about people only having to do a few turns. Suppose it just depends on how much space you need to create. You probably has some space an just needed a hit extra (4 turns worth rather than 12 turns worth).

Gilly, I have had mine for like a week and half an have no pain whatsoever anymore. It does pass! Then you worry it's stopped working! Ha

Can anyone with the composite blobs tell me where the brace is supposed to sit? Is the bar supposed to go over the blob to put pressure on that specific area? Or is the blob to keep the bar above/below it?

My brace seems so loose and just comes in and out without any effort now. I can pull the car down with my lip it's so loose. Should I be worried or does it just naturally loosen over time? Xx

Danni what did your dentist say to do? I have 4 composite blobs and the ones behind my teeth I have to make sure it's above it and the ones in the front of my teeth I have to make sure my power chain is below it and they are there to stop the chain going too high so all the pressure is on the bottom of my front 4 teeth.
There is no way I would be able to remove mine without my hands and always still makes a click sound when I put it in. If your worried I would send your dentist a message for advice

Sounds the same - on the front I have one at the top of each tooth. At the back I have one at the bottom of the rotated tooth. I must've broke my aligner by stretching it over the blobs :/ I'm such a dope ha. Hope he doesn't get annoyed or charge me :/. I will just say it feels a little loose n hopefully he can tighten it up. Don't see him til end of the month though! Hope it's still actually doing something atm instead of just wearing it for no reason and gutted that they may have been a lot more straight by now if it hadn't loosened! X

I personally wouldn't leave it till the end of the month. I would call or message tomorrow as all the work that has been done could be undone in that couple of weeks.
I don't have a labial bar yet so can't comment on if it's broken but one of the other members may be able to help if you posted a picture of it to see if it looks the same as everyone else's.

That's what I'm thinking! But I've already contacted him like a week ago cos I thought the brace was too tight. Feel like a proper nuicanse ringing and saying it's too loose! Ha. He will hate me!
What's a labial bar? Mine is just a standard IA, front and back bar. The back one springs back an forward to put it in/out. I've only tried it over the composite blobs a couple times to see where it feels like it's working best. 99% of the time I've had it underneath/above the blobs. I have seen people online say their dentist tightened their IA at check ups so I guess I need that Doing ASAP. Thanks for the advice x

Hi Danni,

My brace always sat underneath the composite blobs to stop the brace rubbing against my gums apparently!? But the composite blob he added last week he said my brace had to sit on top of it because we'd tightened it as many times as we could already and it's done the trick. I've also read of people on here who had their brace sitting on top as it made it tighter so you may not have done wrong. Definitely call him.

Girls, I have a dilemma. I'm happy with my teeth now I'm finally done! But now I have a week to decide on retainer. My dentist said no to a fixed retainer and I trust him but the thought of having to wear a removable clear brace forever just makes think urgh! I've always had my mind set on the fixed retainer what does everyone recommend??
Does food get stuck?? And how do you floss right up to the gum?? Help! Ha

Yeah I thought I had seen people saying they put the brace on top of the blobs to put the pressure on those teeth. Which makes sense cos where my blobs are is where the teeth need moving. Just feels so loose and can pop out if I move it. I should've asked at the fitting where to wear it but you have that many Qs that you forget once ur there.

Did he say the removable retainer would be for good? I've seen most people say that you only need it 2 nights a week after a while and I think they are set in place eventually. I was set on fixed retainer until I seen ur comments saying he'd advised against them lol! I reckon it's best to go with what the dentist says. Like you said before he could've made a lot of money from u letting u have the fixed too but he doesn't think it's best. So he must really be for the removable if he's losing money on it. I have seen a few others say the fixed can snap/fall off/come loose an cause teeth to move back before u realise it's snapped. Whereas I've not heard anything bad about the removable ones xx

Hmmm I've not actually asked him how long you wear it for but I've read everywhere that you wear it every night for 6 months then just a couple of times a week for life! You would need to replace it every few years though. Hope that's wrong then! I'll ask him next week when I'm back xx

Well I suppose if you have to replace it every few years anyway you may as well get the fixed one and replace that every few years, if you would really prefer it. And just ask the dentist to check it quickly at your routine dentist check ups. Then u have peace of mind that it's not snapped or anything. And then if it was a pain an was snapping every month just resort to a removable xx

My teeth are now in the correct position and I have been told by my dentist to only wear the aligner at night. However after two days of doing this my teeth have moved! They are now not how they should be. I have gone back to wearing the aligner through the day but they still don't look how they did.

Any advise? I can't go back to the dentist for two weeks
Thanks

I take mine out for work and they defo move back in that time. Then I get home, brush my teeth an it's a few hours catching up again to the position they were in in the morning. So I imagine if u have them out for the whole day they will move a lot and need a lot more time to go back into place again. Id leave it in all day until you have a retainer. Can't see that it can be a bad thing to have it in. In sure they will go back to where they were before if u leave it in c

So annoyed. Went in to get my retainer today and the bloody thing doesn't fit because of my composit blobs.he shaved them all down and still doesn't fit. He was going to make holes In the retainer just till my brace came back which would be Monday but I am going on holiday on Sunday till next Friday so he can't do it now as can't have it with holes in for that long as my teeth will move so my treatment is now being delayed for 2 weeks today. Will be month in total that I will have had no movement or progress by the time I get the brace back with the labial bow on it. I was hoping it would be done by my birthday 24th July but looks like it will be August now :(

Aww that's rubbish! How didn't he plan for that? I've seen people say their dentist took blobs off. So surely he could take them off and then just put some on when ur aligner comes back. Seems daft to have nothing for two weeks. I suppose they will still be much better than they were before by the time ur bday comes. And if u have plans u can always pop the aligner out while ur doing stuff for ur bday. I'm hoping to have mine done for my sister wedding beginning of Aug but if I still have it in just gonna take it out for the day xx
