Surgeon says:
Pain is probably in my joint, not the muscle. My jaw deviates to the right when I open my mouth wide, which is likely the disc moving. So I will probably end up with popping, clicking and locking down the road. Not a whole lot that can really be done for it. I wouldn't say the surgery was a failure since I knew going in that it wouldn't be a definite fix, but I'm really disappointed that I'm not even a year post op and my problems are back. This didn't happen when I was in braces, probably because I had rubber bands guiding me, but even then there was the deviation when I opened wide...I don't really know what to think right now.

Re: November Surgery Buddies!
Oh no, my jaw opens a bit to one side. I'm 2 months post-op and my surgeon says, "It will go away" because it's muscular. I really do hope that's the case and my joint is fine, but now I'm worried!
I hope you don't have too many issues down the road.

Re: November Surgery Buddies!
I'm no stranger to disc slipping in my TMJ. It was the primary reason for seeking treatment to begin with. I guess I'll see what the orthodontist has to say on Thursday when I pick up my new lower retainer. I am starting to feel like my bite is off because the right side joint just doesn't want to play nice any more. I'm at a loss for what to do, other that force myself to hold my mouth a certain way and never open wide enough to eat a sandwich. It's like being back at square one except my teeth look great.
