Pain Management

#1 Post by glennstanzalone »

I'm two days in. Right side hurts way more than left. They took me off Dilaudid and put me on 15mg liquid Vicodin. It sucks. I'm having a really bad time and ice only seems to aggravate my right side BSSO. Suggestions for when I go home?

Wow I had no pain meds. You need to go back to the doctor/call your surgeon.

They are already taking pain meds and they most likely won't be chewing foods.

Tylonel W/ Codene + Childrens Motrin. The motrin helps the swelling and the tylone W/Codene takes the edge off.

I was on Dilaudid for the first night after having an IVRO and a Lefort 1. The hospital made it clear that if I wanted to go home it would have to be after observation without the dilaudid, so the 2nd day they put be on tylonel w/ codene every 3-4 hours and Motrin every 6 hours.

For me this worked out quite well and they sent me home, after the 5th day I didnt need the tylonel anymore and just stuck with the motrin. You'd be surprised how well motrin works for the swelling.

Ask your doc before taking Motrin with vicadin im not sure if there will be a reaction, Motrin with tylonel should be OK.
