Nose Frida for Post Surgery Congestion

Hi! I've mentioned on here before that the intense nasal congestion that typically accompanies double or at least upper jaw surgery, freaks me out. I battle congestion almost daily but have comfort in knowing that I can blow my nose and/or at least good air from keeping my open wide, all of which can't happen after surgery. So my question is, have any of you used this Nose Frida Suction device after surgery that is typically for babies? If so, how did it work?

You'll be able to breathe through your mouth after the surgery, so you're not going to suffocate if that's your concern.

I would stay away from anything that creates a suction. If you have blood clots in your nose after surgery, that thing will be bad news bears. It's the reason jaw surgery patients can't use straws for the first several weeks after surgery, or blow their nose.

Your best bet is to get a decongestant pill that you like.

Ah, I bought one of those aspirator things--would that be a no no then? I see my surgeon tomorrow--suppose I can see what he thinks!

What did wonders for me were the breathe right strips that you put over your nose. For the first 2-3 days congestion is going to be a pain, on day 4 it starts to ease up during the day but for me at night it was horrendous. On Day 6 I started using the breathe right strips after seeing it work for other people online and it just did wonders for me at night where I could finally get a good nights sleep.

So I would definitely suggest the breathe right strips after day 3 and after checking with your doctor to make sure it's OK
