Re: Mental health and orthodontics
Congratulations, and 18 months isn't that bad, my estimated treatment time is 2 years, so I've got around 10 months left to go and I've been very happy with with my smile for several months, no regret at all, I can only imagine the complete end result (braces is really the half way point for me, I need 2 implants after braces)
Lots of crimes here
1. The upper molars bite too far ahead of the lower molars
2. Missing teeth #s 9, 14, and, 29
3. Open bite
4. Upper midline left of center
5. Lower midline right of center
6. Upper and lower teeth not straight
Sentence - 24 months, turned to 27 month.
Braces removed since 11/06/17

WELL DONE YOU BRAVE THING! I just thought you should know that after getting braces on, I resigned myself to the thought that I would be single until I got them off because no one would want to date a girl with braces.
Guess who just got a boyfriend
So yes, proof that no one gives a toot. I still feel self conscious as hell though haha DAMN YOU BRAIN.
Best of luck with your braces journey!

Maybe that's something you can discuss with your therapist? You can change emotions, if you so wish or s/he can teach you strategies.
Im not being dismissive that your feelings aren't valid, but honestly are no big deal when they are on. After 19 months in braces it hasn't impacted my life too much.

I'm feeling much better today and have been out & about and smiling etc! I think I was having a wobble yesterday. Hopefully the worst is over and my confidence will continue to increaseSingleJawMelb wrote:MissLou wrote:I wish I felt this way!SingleJawMelb wrote:I love my braces, something to talk about and look forward to

Hi there, I can empathize with what you're saying. I struggle with anxiety at times, but it really is all in your head. I'm not sure if you're into fashion, but braces is "stylish" these days. I love my braces and I'm almost scared of what I'll look like without them. Just know that if you believe in your coolness then you'll automatically find your braces cool as well. It'll adapt to YOU, not the other way around.
