Getting jaw surgery despite weak joints (tendinosis)?

#1 Post by wantsleep »

I am prone to tendinosis/chronic tendonitis and repetitive strain injuries. My tendons tend to injure a little easily and don't heal too properly so they're never 100%. For example, I used to lift weights but I had to stop because I'd developed tendinosis in both shoulders and knees. I used to run on the treadmill, but not anymore because of pain that's recently developed in my left hip and occasionally ankles and forefoot from running.

According to this blog: http://kristysteeth.blogspot.ca/ having weak joints due to osteoarthritis could cause serious complications for orthognathic surgery some time down the line. Would having bad tendons be a risk factor for developing TMJ complications from jaw surgery (MMA) as well? My left TMJ already clicks and crunches a lot and there's occasionally mild pain. Anyone here with TMJD or is prone to repetitive strain injury due to poor tendons or otherwise have orthognathic surgery done? In terms of TMJ, how were your results in the long term?
