Upper jaw expander

#1 Post by MooMoo »

I have a upper jaw expander, this is day 2 and getting food caught between my expander and the roof of my mouth makes me want to vomit. What can I do about this .

I personally have never had a jaw expander, but have heard other people recommending a water flosser to get food out.

What kind of expander? The type you turn or a quad helix (or other) style ?
Round 3 (lifetime) Damon stainless applied 3/16/20 (after 4 weeks attempting invisalign) On for about 18 months
Night time elastics with invisalign retainers; still...
Double jaw surgery was 6/18/15...
Orthodontics never really ends...
I'm emphatically against extraction orthodontics!

It's called a rapid palatal expander. It's got like a little nut thing I have to turn with a spanner every week.

Smaller bites of food, avoid stringy veggies, and chew thoroughly. And lots of water to help swallow.
