Has anyone here had power chains put on in order to correct crowding or crooked teeth? I know they are usually used to close gaps once teeth are straight, but I've read they can also be used for other purposes. My ortho mentioned putting a power chain on my front 4 teeth during my next appt (in a week and a half), but they are still overlapping a bit and crooked. Front two teeth are tipped back a bit, and the two outside of those are angled outward and slightly overlapping the front teeth. Of course, my ortho may decide to delay the power chain, but I'm just wondering if anyone has gotten a power chain put on in these circumstances. My next appt is my first adjustment at 5 weeks into treatment.
Thanks!

Re: Power Chain for Crowding/Crooked teeth?
Hi. I believe they can correct a number of problems, at least that's what I gather from Googling about them. Personally, I have a chain on my lower four incisors and in combination with the arch wire they have corrected some mild overcrowding. In my case they were added after a few months and used to pull the teeth back together after the incisors were straightened-up.

In case anyone is wondering... I had my appt yesterday and did not get the power chain as my teeth were still not in alignment. Maybe next time!

Power chains have been the bane of my existence for months now. So uncomfortable and tender every time you get an adjustment but i've had them for both crowding and closing gaps over time. be glad you haven't had them yet haha
