Hi, can anyone show me a photo of wire ties with ceramic brackets?

Ive had my braces for six weeks now and I'm slowly getting used to them. I have ceramic on top and metal on the bottom teeth. The ortho put clear bands on my upper brackets and they looked amazing for a couple of weeks... but they are now fluro yellow after eating too many curries. I heard that curry stains most colours except the dark elastics so I'm thinking about asking for metal ties next time I go.

I am 40 and often have to do presentations for work so I'm keen to keep the top looking subtle, although I'd love to play around with different colours on my bottom teeth!

So, I'm wondering if anyone else has the metal ties with their ceramic braces and can you please show me a photo? thanks!

Here is a picture of my ceramic top braces with the wire teflon ties. I also originally had rubber band ligatures which stained quickly from coffee.

Do you prefer the wire ties to the rubber bands, or can you tell a difference? I have ceramic with wire and I’m considering changing to ligatures next time. I worry the wires will wear off the enamel on my teeth.

I much prefer the wires because they don't stain and are coated with something similar to teflon. The wires aren't in contact with my teeth, they fit in the same place as the rubber ligatures do. I go in for my 2nd appointment since getting braced in March. I imagine I'm due for a new arch wire as this is the original one. My teeth have moved noticeably since March, I am amazed at how different my bottom ones look now!

My clear bands get so yellow, I've been in a couple of times already to get them changed. The last time I went I asked the assistant about putting metal ties on stead of the bands and she said they don't do that. I'm seeing my ortho next week for my first adjustment since getting my braces on so I'll talk to him about it.

That is correct. Keep on posting until your username turns green. Then you'll be able to post and see photos.

Since your ortho doesn't use metal ligatures, I'd recommend another color other than clear, since they get stained and turn yellow. I have self-ligating brackets so don't have ligatures, but I've read a lot of posts from people on this site who have had luck with different colors that didn't stain so badly. Seems like navy blue and black are popular for that, as well as other bright colors. I guess the lighter colors stain more.

Good luck, and have fun with the colors. I wish I could do colored ligatures, seriously!

I've only had my braces for just over a week and my clear ligs are already starting to stain, despite my best efforts. I don't drink coffee, tea, or red wine, haven't eaten curry or anything...it's not really that noticeable to anyone else but bothers me to no end. Feels like one day they were fine and the next...yellow! Planning to call my ortho on Monday to see if I can get wire ties. I think that was the original plan anyway but I don't think it was relayed to the assistant who put on the ligs.

Anyway hopefully I'll have enough posts soon to be able to see the pictures in this thread!

For my ceramic braces I use the pearl blue that my office recommended at my initial consultation. They really hold up to stains for me and they honestly make my teeth look whiter. You can’t see them at all in the pictures I’m in from a wedding a couple months ago!

I do the pearl blue as well per ortho recommendation....had the clear for a few days as office was out of the pearl but promptly went back and had them changed!
