alignment or crowding first?

I'm all set to get full braces on January 26th, but have a bit of a concern as I have several problems. I have a pretty big overbite along with a deep bite (my bottom teeth sort of go up in a wave and touch the roof of my mouth).. My question is, how do you guys think my ortho might approach this? He won't even be able to put brackets on some of my bottom teeth because my uppers go completely over them. Also, as my upper teeth are pulled back I'm scared that they'll hit my bottoms eventually if my bite isn't corrected yet. I've seen some people mention that they had some sort of stuff put on their back molars to prevent them from biting down completely, and then the ortho did certain things to the bottom archwire to bring the teeth to a level position.

Anyone experience anything similar? If so, how did your ortho plan to fix it? Thanks guys! :wink:

I wouldn't be surprised if he went ahead and put the brackets on even if your uppers go completely over them. Just be prepared not to be able to close your mouth for about 2 weeks.

I think I was in the same situation was you. My ortho just put the top brackets on first to make room for the lowers. Then two and half months later there was enough room for the lowers.

4 months with TOP braces, then the BOTTOMS for me. No bite blockers for me. But then, my bottoms have SOOOO much catching up to do.

I think I was in the same situation was you. My ortho just put the top brackets on first to make room for the lowers. Then two and half months later there was enough room for the lowers.
Jimmy18 and those correcting a deep bite, did your ortho make your upper arch overjet more to make room for the bottom brackets or did the ortho pull your overbite in?? I feel like my overjet is getting bigger....
