I'm officially FREE! The experience wasn't as bad as I had imagined, even with the ceramic brackets. Only a couple shattered, and most of them popped off with the bonding material in tow.
I wish I could post some pictures, but I don't have the right cable for my camera right now. I am really happy with the results, though. Thanks for all the support over the past year- especially during those first few days. It's been quite the journey!
And yes, this was a graduation/Christmas present for myself.

I have Essix retainers for the uppers and lowers for now and am supposed to wear them for 12 hours per day. Ortho said I might want to switch to Hawleys after a couple of years since they last longer and my teeth will be more settled by then.
My teeth do feel a little weird now that they're straight. I examine my bite marks in food and marvel at how nothing is stuck in my teeth after eating. I finally went a day without using a toothpick! My gums are still a little sore from the drilling, but other than that, everything is great.
