i read a few posts on total treatment costs between metal vs. ceramic, but i was just wondering for those who have ceramics (or were offered), how much extra did u have to pay for them? i was just wondering to compare with my costs. thanks
i have full ceramics on my uppers and lowers. my treatment time is estimated at about 18 months. my ortho offered full ceramics on my upper arch for free, but for full ceramics on my lowers i would have to pay $500, which i did. my total treatment = $3500 USD.
if i had full ceramic uppers and full metal lowers i would have only paid $3000. sometimes i kick myself for it, but at the end of the day i'm happier with the full ceramics haha.
That doesn't sound too bad to me! I went for my 1st consultation today. They gave an estimated treatment time of 15-18 months and quoted me $4600 plus $275 for the records visit. That was for full ceramic uppers and metal lowers. They won't do ceramic lowers b/c they say it will chip your upper teeth but I know alot of others give you the option. That sounded a little high to me. I have another consultation Thursday and one scheduled for next Tuesday. Maybe I'll get a better quote from one of those!
One ortho said it would be $325 extra for ceramic uppers and $630 extra for ceramic uppers and lowers (25 month treatment). $5850 total.
Another ortho said it would be about $300 extra for ceramic uppers (20 month treatment). I didn't ask him about ceramic lowers because at that point I decided to get metal lowers. $4100 total.
Both would put ceramics on the front and metal in the back.
My treatment is 24-27 months, $5174 US. If I wanted ceramics, it's 200 per arch. But I'm getting Damon3s, which are no extra and have less metal than traditional braces. Hope this helps. I'm in the midwest in a semi large town, since location does make a difference
I am paying 4,000 and some for upper and lower ceramics. I paid 500 to have my uppers and I am very happy with my choice. My ortho said he wanted metal on my lower teeth. Well, mistakenly clear ones were put on and I don't have to pay extra for them since it was their mistake. I was told if they became a problem he would be switching them to metals (I have an overbite and if I bit them it could be a problem, so far no problems though)
i appreciate all your replies, thanks! i was going insane for awhile thinking if i got ripped off or something lol.
i forgot to mention that i'm from orange county, california, and that i have dental insurance that covers orthodontia. just an FYI for future readers who are also comparing prices and such.
My treatment will be 18-24 months, and I did full metal on bottom and ceramics on my front 6 upper teeth, with metal on the rest. Including x-rays and whatnot, my total was $4980. So the $3500 is a pretty good deal for all ceramics!
$200 more for opals (self-ligating ceramics). Total cost $5,000 with a slight discount for paying all up-front. Oh, my time estimate is 18-24 months but I'm ahead of schedule
My lowes hardly show at all so I don't care if they're metal.
