Posting your teeth pics

#1 Post by ashesgap »

How did you get the courage to post your teeth on here? I want to...but it makes me crazy nervous. I think it would be helpful to other people later on, to see how they handle my missing lateral incisors.
So? Any help would be great.

I think that all of the supportive comments definitely helped me. I looked at everyone elses pics and decided that when they were done and gorgeous, it would be great to be able to see where I started!

well knowing it was the BEFORE pic made a difference lol I didn't post pics in the beginning but that was more because I'm computer challenged and just enjoyed seeing other people's pics. Also, it's just teeth. No full front face shots. Don't be nervous! Everyone on here is for support, we're all doing the same journey. When I look at my starting picture now? I can't believe I wasn't more self conscious about my smile. I knew it bugged me that my teeth had shifted so much since having braces as a pre teen but didn't realize HOW bad my bite lined up (or rather, how badly it DIDN'T line up) HTH It's also great to see the progression. I took picutres of me teeth weekly while the most movement was occuring then after that monthly if I remembered. Especially after my surgery, it was so neat to see the swelling progression then how it steadily improved.

This is the last place anyone is going to judge you on your teeth!

Besides, you can edit them not to include your face.

If I recall, I only started posting pre-braces pics once I got my braces on because I felt like I was doing something about it and, in some sense, couldn't be "judged" for having janky teeth anymore. :)

I just told myself hey crazy... no one can see your face. and even if they could who cares. we are all here to support each other. I know they look like crazy teeth now but one day they are going to be awesome and i will be one hot mama.. but no really. it's tough but it's really not that bad once they are out there.

I also find that posting pics or x-rays make it so much easier to ask questions -- people have a much better idea when they can SEE the problem, as opposed to just reading about it. I may describe something using incorrect terminology or just plain incorrectly, but teeth don't lie (well, usually! )

I'm planning to post mine tomorrow. I'm not worried about any negative reactions, this is an anonymous forum. People will just see my teeth, not my face. Also my teeth are stained from the braces, they're not as white as they were, but I'm more than sure people will understand that. So don't worry and post away.

Do it! I figure we are all in the same boat here, so it's not as big of a deal as it seems.

The way I look at it is that since anybody who sees me in real life sees my teeth/braces, they are not a secret and are something I'm happy to show to the world. I post the same photos under my real name to Facebook, I truly don't see how anybody halfway reasonable could possibly hold them against me.

Photos posted here definitely help I think, show people the results possible, giving people encouragement to investigate dental care to improve their lives and make the world a better place.
