When I woke up, it was really like starting over. My speech had improved greatly throughout the day yesterday, so I didn't think it would be an issue again. However, when I woke up this morning I was back to square one. In some ways my speech was worse than it was right after I was braced. My "f's" and "s's" were very difficult. The more I talked throughout the day, the easier things became. I also took a tip I learned from here - drink plenty of water, all day every day, and talking is easier.
We had a company gathering today, and I had potato salad and a hot dog cut in to small pieces with very little trouble. We then ate ice cream. Tonight I came home and made a grilled cheese sandwich, and dipped it in tomato soup to soften it up, and for some reason my mouth feels swollen like it did yesterday and is very sore now. I took some Tylenol and Ibuprofen, and placed wax on all four corners where the wires come out.
Soreness has been on and off. I wouldn't say I've had "pain" but the soreness has ranged from mild to extreme. Right now I'd say it's definitely moderate, coming down from extreme.
There are times when though I feel them, they don't hurt at all (this of course is when I have pain meds in my system, hehe).
I realized some things throughout my first day -
-Sometimes my mouth makes embarrassing noises when I'm trying to learn how to cover up my teeth with my lips after laughing or opening my mouth wide.
-I gleek when I talk, more than I'd care to admit.
-When I try to put in wax, my mouth creates a lot of saliva and I end up with pools of drool on my shirt. Not very attractive, and makes it so very hard to place the wax.
-It's hard to differentiate with my tongue if something is food in my brace, or just part of the bracket.
That's all I can think of to write about for my first full day now. I will continue to post updates.
